Mark: Hi, it’s Mark from Top Local Lead Generation, we’re here with Sheetal Gupta of Maharani Jewels in Vancouver. How’re you doing today Sheetal?
Sheetal: I’m doing really well thank you so much Mark.
Mark: So diamonds come in a lot of different shapes. How you pick a particular shape for yourself?
Sheetal: That’s a great question. With so much on the market now in terms of shapes; round, square, cushion, oval, where the most popular questions I get asked for, especially from the nervous groom-to-be is, what shape do I choose for my girlfriend which one will she like?
So I’m going to take you over to a presentation just to go over the various shapes and that way you get an idea of what they visually look like. We’re going to start off with the classic and timeless, Round Brilliant Cut Diamond. This diamond is the most popular. I would say 80% of the diamonds that are purchased out there are Round Brilliant Cut Diamonds and the reason for this is it’s simple, it’s classic, it’s for the woman that is looking for something evergreen.
The next shape is the Princess Cut, this is for the modern woman. It’s got very clean, sharp edges which make it very linear and very crisp. So if her personality is very modern, she likes the clean lines, something a bit edgy, Princess Cut is a fantastic choice as well.
Now comes to the vintage lovers, these are women that like to shop vintage, that like the old world charm and for them the Cushion Cut is a fantastic choice. It’s not a round, not a square, it’s a squarish round shaped diamond, almost looks like a pillow which often times it gets called a pillow cut but known as a Cushion Cut.
The next one is the Emerald Cut. This is actually cut very differently from the first three I showed you. As you can see, the facets on this diamond are longer and the inclusions would be a lot more apparent in the Emerald Cut which is why it’s called a step cut diamond and this cut is for the fashionista.
The next one is the Oval Cut. It’s like the Round except it’s been stretched out and it’s really a shape for the traditionalist. So if she’s someone who like kind of that very traditional sort of style, the Oval would be fantastic choice. Also because it’s longer shape, it’s really great to elongate the fingers. So if your girlfriend is one that has longer slender fingers, the Oval Cut would be a great option as well.
Last but not least, the Heart Shaped Diamond. Of course this is for the romantic. Definitely not the most popular because it is very much for a specific woman that likes a shape that is romantic and there’s nothing better than the Heart Shaped Diamond.
So that’s the most popular shapes. There are other shaped diamonds as well but what I selected are the most popular. So just a quick recap. If you are looking for something classic and timeless, the Round Brilliant Cut and something on the other side of the spectrum would be something like the Princess Cut which is a little bit more modern, has the sharp edges and those are my picks.
